The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for a key player in the NCAA transfer portal.
Miami Hurricanes offensive tackle John Campbell, who entered the portal on December 16, included Tennessee among his top four schools this week, along with Florida, Florida State, and USC.
Campbell is a former three-star recruit from Orlando who spent the previous five seasons at Miami.
The Florida native started 12 games for Miami this past season after missing the entire 2021 season with a knee injury.
Campbell had 18 total starts for the Hurricanes, including 16 at left tackle, one at right tackle, and one at left guard.
The feeling here is that if Tennessee lands Campbell, he'll be the replacement for Darnell Wright at right tackle. That would allow Texas transfer Andrej Karic to slide inside and replace Jerome Carvin at left guard.
We know Josh Heupel and Vols offensive line coach Glen Elarbee have some nice Orlando connections thanks to their time at UCF. Perhaps those connections will help Tennessee bring Campbell to Knoxville.
