The Tennessee Vols are one of several programs working to swipe a five-star recruit from an SEC rival.

2027 five-star wide receiver Easton Royal has been committed to the Texas Longhorns since late November, but that hasn’t stopped other programs from continuing to recruit him.

Tennessee is one of the programs that’s trying to flip Royal from Texas.

Royal, 5-foot-11/185 pounds from New Orleans, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 12 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Easton Royal is planning to visit Tennessee

For now, Royal says he’s solidly committed to Texas, but he’s not shutting the door on other opportunities just yet.

“I’m pretty strong with my decision, and it’s only getting stronger,” said Royal to On3. “But I have to make the best decision for me at the end of the day. I’m not shutting the door on other coaches. I want to keep those relationships.”

Royal told On3 this week that Tennessee is one of the schools that he’s planning to visit (though it’s unclear when that visit will happen).

“I like their offense,” said Royal to On3 of his interest in the Vols. “They throw the ball and get it to their top receivers. I like what Coach (Kelsey) Pope does. They have been consistent with me.”

LSU and Auburn are also in the mix for Royal.
