It's no secret that the Tennessee Vols baseball team plays with a chip on its shoulder.
So it shouldn't be a surprise that the team utilized some bulletin board material this season.
Early Tuesday morning, just hours after the Vols beat the Texas A&M Aggies in Omaha to claim the program's first national championship in baseball, Tennessee first baseman Blake Burke took to Twitter/X.com to highlight a terrible take from before the 2024 season.
Burke tweeted a photo from early February that suggested that Tennessee was in for a "down year".
Burke firing off receipts in the middle of the night after winning a national championship is legendary stuff. The Vols fought hard all year. And they had plenty of chances to roll over in the post-season. But they dug deep and found a way to get the job done. Tennessee's championship run was the definition of a total team effort.
You can't blame Burke for subtly firing back at the critics who didn't believe in the Volunteers before the start of the 2024 season.
