According to On3's Joe Tipton, the Tennessee Vols are a "team to watch" for a top 10 player in the NCAA transfer portal.
Tipton reported over the weekend that he was told Tennessee and Dayton are two teams to watch for Lincoln Memorial (Division II) transfer forward Elyjah Freeman.
Freeman, 6-foot-8 from Palm Springs, FL, averaged 18.8 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game as a true freshman this past season.
On3 ranks Freeman as the No. 7 best player that's currently in the NCAA transfer portal.
Kentucky has also reportedly reached out to Freeman, who told On3 that he likely won't take visits for another few weeks. Freeman also noted that he may wait until after the spring semester ends before he commits to a program.
Freeman isn't the only transfer player that Tennessee has interest in.
Tipton also reported that Tennessee is "in the hunt" for Iowa transfer guard Josh Dix.
Dix, 6-foot-6, averaged 14.4 points per game in 2024-25 while shooting 42.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Iowa native, who will be a senior next season, is also being pursued by Alabama, Creighton, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa State, and Indiana.
Dix is ranked by On3 as the No. 1 player currently in the NCAA transfer portal.
Tipton, however, also pointed out that he doesn't think Dix will "stray too far from his home state of Iowa".
Tennessee is losing several key contributors from this year's squad, including Zakai Zeigler, Jahmai Mashack, Jordan Gainey, and Chaz Lanier, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the Vols are targeting some of the top players in the NCAA transfer portal.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Monday (March 24).
