Thursday night is going to be a very big night for former Tennessee Vols star Dalton Knecht and many other future stars in the NBA.  The 2024 NBA Draft kicks off on Thursday night from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, and soon enough Knecht and the rest of the prospects will know where they're headed.

However, for those looking to read the tea leaves on where exactly Knecht might go, the online sportsbook BetMGM has him as the betting favorite to be selected at sixth overall by the Charlotte Hornets.

That certainly wouldn't be a bad place for him to land, at least in the context of Vol fans hoping to be able to see the former Vol continue to play in person.  No NBA franchise is closer to Knoxville than Charlotte.

Oh, yeah, and there just so happens to be another former SEC player of the year and first-team All-American on the Hornets right now: Grant Williams.  Williams was traded to Charlotte from the Dallas Mavericks back in February of this year.

Seeing Knecht and Williams, who claimed the same two aforementioned honors as Knecht back in 2019, on the same basketball court would garner a huge interest from Tennessee fans.

Knecht was listed previously by the league in the 7-10 draft slot for the purposes of teams in the draft being able to secure scouting and physical information on him during the pre-draft process.  The Portland Trailblazers, who hold the seventh and fourteenth picks, have taken a close look at Knecht during the pre-draft process.  Knecht has also been mocked to go as early as pick #5 to the Detroit Pistons.

However, landing with the Hornets would be something that would surely thrill Vol fans, who would get to see the two greatest Tennessee Vols of the 21st century share the basketball court together.
