2020 three-star offensive lineman Kyree Miller, who committed to the Tennessee Vols in early November, announced on Tuesday evening that he won't be signing during the early signing period that begins on Wednesday.
Miller, 6-foot-4/370 lbs from Mesquite, TX, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 185 player in the state of Texas and the No. 86 offensive guard in the nation.
While it's unclear what Miller's reasons are for extending his recruitment, it certainly appears that this could be a case of Tennessee backing off the Texas native. Or perhaps UT wanted Miller to be a preferred walk on or a grayshirt candidate (that's pure speculation, of course).
It's worth noting, however, that Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt and offensive line coach Will Friend visited Miller in-home last week.
Recruiting is fluid. And the Vols, who like all programs extend way more "offers" than they have scholarships, can only take so many players in a class. With top targets making last minute decisions, it makes taking a lower rated player like Miller a bit tricky.
Miller's other notable known offers are from Libery, North Texas, Texas Southern, and UTEP.
It looks like there's plenty of last minute movement going on with UT's 2020 recruiting class.
