Tennessee Vols cornerback Colton Hood wasn’t named to The Athletic’s midseason All-Transfer Portal team
The Tennessee Vols made one of the best moves of the offseason by landing cornerback Colton Hood out of the spring transfer portal
The Athletic must’ve forgotten that Tennessee Vols cornerback Colton Hood exists.
Because there’s no other explanation for the former Colorado defensive back to be left off of The Athletic’s midseason All-Transfer Portal team.
LSU’s Mansoor Delane, USC’s Bishop Fitzgerald, California’s Hezekiah Masses, Miami’s Keionte Scott, and Oregon’s Dillon Thieneman are the defensive backs who were included on The Athletic’s midseason All-Transfer portal team.
No disrespect to any of those players, but Hood absolutely should’ve been included on that list.
Tennessee’s Colton Hood has been one of the best cornerbacks in the nation in 2025
Not only has Hood been one of the best transfer players in the country this season, he’s been one of the best players in all of college football.
Six months ago, Hood’s name was barely on the NFL draft radar. After just six games with the Vols, Hood is being projected as a first-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.
One SEC team even said that Hood is the best SEC defensive back they’ve seen so far this season.
Hood has been one of the best cornerbacks in the SEC, yet he’s not one of the best transfers so far this season?
How?
You can’t make it make sense.
Tennessee fans already think the national media slights the Vols on a regular basis. Forgetting to include Hood, who should’ve been an obvious selection, to their midseason All-Transfer Portal team certainly won’t help The Athletic beat the allegations.
