A former Tennessee Vols defensive back who entered the NCAA transfer portal after the 2024 season made a big play early in Sunday night’s matchup between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Miami Hurricanes.

Defensive back Jakobe Thomas transferred from Tennessee to Miami following the 2024 season. In the first quarter against Notre Dame, Thomas recovered a fumble that was forced by Hurricanes defensive lineman Justin Scott.

Thomas, who started his career at Middle Tennessee State, spent just one season with the Vols. The Tennessee native totaled 22 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack during his lone season on Rocky Top.

Unfortunately for Miami, the Hurricanes were unable to capitalize on Thomas’ fumble recovery.
