Tennessee Vols sophomore edge rusher James Pearce played so well in UT's season-opening 49-13 win against the Virginia Cavaliers that he received a shoutout from Pro Football Focus.

PFF, which grades each NFL and college football player, gave Pearce some love for his two sack game against Virginia.

They also noted that Pearce walked away from the win against Virginia with an impressive 90.4 PFF grade. Pearce, according to PFF, also had a 35 percent win rate to go along with seven quarterback pressures.

The Vols badly need a couple of pass rushers to step up this season — it's essentially a requirement for winning the SEC East. Fortunately for the Vols, it appears that Pearce is ready to perform at a high level this fall for Tennessee.
