Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Matthew Butler was selected with the No. 175 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Butler stayed at Tennessee during a time of transition when Josh Heupel took over for fired Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
The Durham, NC native could’ve made the jump to the NFL, but he stuck around and was a key team leader for Tennessee in 2021.
Butler is one of several Vols who played under three different head coaches at Tennessee (Pruitt, Heupel, and Butch Jones). It’s safe to say he’s been battle tested.
The former Vol should provide immediate depth for the Raiders along their defensive line. Butler is the type of player that should have a long career in the NFL.
