One of the top linebackers in the nation has the Tennessee Vols among his top schools and he's set to announce his commitment soon.
2025 four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford announced his top six schools on Friday evening and Tennessee made the cut, along with Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, and UCF.
Alford also revealed that he plans to announce his commitment on March 30.
The talented linebacker told On3 that committing on March 30 is a way to honor his late grandfather (March 30 was his grandfather's birthday).
Alford, 6-foot-2/210 lbs from Vero Beach, FL, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 7 linebacker in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Florida. He's also rated as the No. 48 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
“Tennessee has been one of the most consistent schools with me," said Alford to On3 of his interest in the Vols. "Multiple coaches reach out, they send scripture to me and I like the relationships.”
For now, it appears that Miami, Ohio State, and UCF are the three teams to beat for Alford. But the Vols are still taking a swing at the talented linebacker in the hopes of landing him next month.
