The Tennessee Vols are reportedly on the verge of losing a 2026 four-star commit.

According to 247Sports' Blair Angulo, 2026 four-star tight end Carson Sneed is "expected by most to eventually move on from the Volunteers".

"From what we've gathered, he likes Tennessee a great deal but is strongly considering other options down the stretch in his recruitment," wrote Angulo.

Sneed, 6-foot-6/248 lbs from Nashville, Tn., has been committed to the Vols since last August. He's rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 14 tight end in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Tennessee.

Ole Miss and North Carolina appear to be the two programs most likely to swipe Sneed from the Volunteers.

North Carolina would make a lot of sense for Sneed as the Tar Heels landed his older brother, Dayton Sneed, out of the transfer portal earlier this offseason (Dayton Sneed spent the first two seasons of his college career at Tennessee).

Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney reported last month that Sneed has some concerns about how tight ends are used in Tennessee's offense.

"There is some concern about just how often the Vols throw to their tight ends especially as other top teams come in and try to flip Sneed….He’s an in-state prospect and playing in Knoxville is a huge deal but just how often Sneed is going to see the ball is a sticking point," wrote Gorney

Sneed is a talented player, but Tennessee has been adept at landing tight end talent via the transfer portal, so the Vols should be just fine if he chooses to move on.
