A former Tennessee Vols standout and a former Florida Gators quarterback were involved in a fight during a joint practice between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.
Eagles defensive lineman Derek Barnett, a former Vols star, reportedly got into it with former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, the Colts' first round draft pick earlier this spring.
According to Eagles beat reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks, Barnett and Richardson got into the scuffle which led to teammates from both sides joining the fray.
Reports vary, but it appears that practice was testy — specifically between Barnett and Richardson — for most of the day. Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter, a rookie for the Eagles, was also involved.
According to CBS Sports reporter Jeff Kerr, Barnett threw a punch at one point.
The entire practice was full of fights with the biggest one involving center Jason Kelce.
The veteran offensive lineman called his role in the fights "unacceptable" after the practice was over.
With the season just a few weeks away, it's clearly the time of year when players are eager to hit the field for meaningful games. The competitive juices are flowing and guys are just ready to play games that matter.
