The Tennessee Vols aren't the leaders in the clubhouse for 2021 four-star athlete Nathaniel Wiggins, but they aren't far behind.
Wiggins, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from Atlanta, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 22 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 11 athlete in the nation.
The Georgia native recently told Rivals that Oregon is, surprisingly, his No. 1 school.
Wiggins said, however, that Ohio State, Georgia and Tennessee are "up there right now too", adding "I really like all three of those schools".
"I have visited Tennessee two times and I really like the coaching staff. They communicate very well, they have some great defensive coaches and I have really bonded with them", said Wiggins to Rivals.
Wiggins said he's "closer" to making a decision, but admitted that he will need to take some more visits (after the recruiting shutdown is lifted) before he can commit.
247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins believes Wiggins has the potential to play at either wide receiver, cornerback or safety in college. Biggins notes that Wiggins is a "smooth athlete" and "very skillful", adding that the Georgia native is able to use "his long 6-2 frame to win jump ball battles on both sides of the ball".
This is the type of player that UT head coach Jeremy Pruitt loves to recruit. Length, athleticism and versatility. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee become a major factor for Wiggins as his eventual decision approaches.
The Vols currently have nine players committed to their 2021 recruiting class.
