The Tennessee Vols will be experiencing somewhat of a youth movement in 2024.

Several veteran players will return for the Vols next fall, but several older key players — such as defensive lineman Tyler Baron, linebacker Aaron Beasley, and defensive back Doneiko Slaughter, among others — are moving on, which will create opportunities for some of Tennessee's younger players.

Earlier this month, defensive lineman Bryson Eason, who is returning to Tennessee in 2024 for a fifth season, and defensive lineman Joshua Josephs, a rising junior, were asked by former UT wide receiver-turned-media-personality Jayson Swain about some young Vols players they're excited about in 2024.

Josephs immediately pointed out true freshman edge rusher Caleb Herring — a player that Josephs thinks will make some noise in Tennessee's matchup against Iowa in the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day.

"Really, Caleb Herring," said Josephs. "And I expect him to make plays this bowl game actually. He's very versatile. He's good in coverage and he can rush off the edge."

Eason, meanwhile, mentioned redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins as a player that fans should be excited about next fall.

"D-line, my boy Jenk. Jayson Jenkins," said Eason. "He's been working. He's been working for real. And I think he's gonna shock the world and be so special."

Herring is a former four-star recruit who was rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2023 recruiting class. He saw limited snaps this season, but he still managed to record three tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

Jenkins is a former three-star recruit from New Jersey who has seen limited action during his first two seasons at Tennessee. But that could be changing in 2024 as it sounds like he's ready to make a major impact for the Vols — at least according to his teammate.
