The Tennessee Vols are off this weekend (their second and final bye week of the season) after winning back-to-back rivalry games against the Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide. 

Tennessee will be back in action on November 2 when they host the Kentucky Wildcats at Neyland Stadium. 

On Monday, it was announced that Tennessee's game against Kentucky will be a prime time game, kicking off at either 7:30 PM ET or 7:45 PM ET.

A night game against Kentucky just a couple of days after Halloween? It looks like Tennessee has a very, very easy decision to make — this has to be a "dark mode" game for the Vols. 

Tennessee wore dark mode uniforms two years ago when Kentucky visited Knoxville and it turned out to be one of the most memorable games of the season for the Vols. 

There was plenty of talk that season about Tennessee's game against Kentucky being a "trap game". Instead, the Vols boat raced the Wildcats, winning 44-6 in a game that was never close.

I'd be shocked if the Vols don't wear their dark mode uniforms against Kentucky on November 2. They haven't been used yet this season and the game against the Wildcats — on what should be a crisp, cool Tennessee Saturday night — is the perfect opportunity to break them out. 

The Vols, by the way, last wore their dark mode uniforms against South Carolina last season in a game that Tennessee won 41-20. 

UT is 3-1 in black jerseys under Josh Heupel (the Vols also wore black jerseys, with white helmets, in 2021 in a win against South Carolina and in a loss against Georgia in 2021).
