Tennessee Football: National recruiting analyst details another twist in Legend Bey’s recruitment

2026 four-star athlete Legend Bey signed with the Tennessee Vols earlier this week, but he reportedly preferred to sign with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Bey, who had been committed to Tennessee for three months before flipping to Ohio State in November, was reportedly pressured into signing with Tennessee instead of Ohio State.
According to 247Sports’ Mike Roach, Bey is “unhappy” with the decision to sign with Tennessee and will attempt to find a way out of his national letter of intent with the Vols.
“Sources told 247Sports Wednesday evening that Bey was unhappy with the decision and would seek a path to be released from Tennessee and end up at Ohio State,” wrote Roach. “We were told that this would likely play out in three weeks when Bey turns 18 years old on Christmas Eve, but Bey decided to communicate his unrest Thursday.”

On3’s Sam Spiegelman reported on the Rivals YouTube channel on Friday that Bey’s mother went to Knoxville by herself this past weekend to pick up the four-star athlete’s signing day papers.
Spiegelman also said that one source told him Bey’s signature on the signing-day papers with Tennessee was forged.
“Legend Bey’s mother actually went to Knoxville the weekend before signing day to meet with the Tennessee coaches, by herself, to pick up the paperwork — whether he or his mom signed on signing day, that remains up in the air,” explained Spiegelman. “I have one source that says the signature with Legend Bey at Tennessee was forged, and that Legend still does not want to go to Knoxville. We’ve seen the famous tweet hit the social media airwaves — that his family has basically locked him out of his account. And as of Friday morning, the last day of the signing window, we’re still hearing this is a family that’s kind of in disagreement about where this prolific four-star athlete is going to end up playing.”
Everyone is still basically in wait-and-see mode with this situation. 247Sports reported that Tennessee would “not be opposed to releasing him from his paperwork.” So it’s possible that Bey could get released from his national letter of intent and enroll at Ohio State. He could also enter the transfer portal in January.
We’ll see how this plays out over the next several weeks. The most important thing is that Bey ends up at the school that he feels is best for him. And it certainly sounds like he feels Ohio State is that school.
