Everything is coming up aces these days for the Tennessee Vols football program.

The Vols have seemingly been on the end of some good news nearly every week since the end of the season.

And this week is no exception.

On Tuesday, 2023 four-star defensive back Sylvester Smith announced his commitment to Tennessee.

“I finally visited in January for the first time and I fell in love," said Smith to On3 after committing to the Vols. "I had my family with me and we all loved it at Tennessee. That visit made a big impact on me and that played a big role in my decision.”

“Everyone is buying in under coach Heupel," added Smith. "Everyone is focused, everyone is working together, everyone is for each other, and there is about to be a big change at Tennessee."

Smith, 5-foot-11/195 lbs from Munford, AL, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 11 safety in the nation and the No. 13 player in the state of Alabama.

The talented defensive back committed to the Volunteers over Auburn and Florida (as well as several others).

During his commitment ceremony, Smith faked putting on a Florida hat before donning a Tennessee hat.

The Vols now have nine players committed to their 2023 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 7 in the nation.
