One of the Tennessee Vols' breakout stars from this season is on the cusp of a school record and also a big decision.

Vols junior running back Jaylen Wright has 2,110 career rushing yards after totaling 113 rushing yards in Tennessee's 59-3 win against UConn on Saturday.

The all-time record for rushing yards in a career at Tennessee is 3,078 by Travis Henry (1997-2000). That means that Wright is just 968 yards away from the all-time rushing record at UT. And he has a year of eligibility remaining.

If Wright sticks around for another season, he'll almost certainly become Tennessee's all-time leading rusher (he still has three regular season games left to inch even closer to the record in 2023).

But will Wright return to Knoxville in 2024?

For now, it's unclear what Wright's draft stock would look like next spring. The Durham, NC native has taken his game to another level this season, but the running back position is becoming increasingly devalued in the NFL.

It seems unlikely that Wright could do much in 2024 to increase his draft stock. But a sweet NIL deal and the chance to leave Tennessee as the program's all-time leading rusher could be enough to convince Wright to come back for another season.

Those questions, however, can be answered after the season. For now, Wright is obviously focused on finishing the season strong while trying to help the Vols win 11 games for the second straight season.
