Tennessee Vols fans would love to see forward Nate Ament back on Rocky Top next season, but that’s unlikely to happen.

Ament, who is averaging 17.4 points per game as a true freshman, is expected to be a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

The latest NBA mock draft from 247Sports, in fact, has Ament getting selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the No. 8 overall pick.

“Ament was really starting to figure it out right before his injury,” said 247Sports national director of scouting Adam Finkelstein. “He’s got great positional size. He’s playing the 3, but he projects as a combo forward.

“He’s someone with mismatch scoring ability. Nate is an absolutely wonderful kid. We want to see a little more killer instinct from him, but his long-term potential is undeniable.”

After a slow start to his true freshman season, Ament found his groove in January and February before suffering a high ankle sprain. Ament, who hasn’t played since the Volunteers’ loss to Alabama on February 28, is questionable to play on Thursday against Auburn in the SEC Tournament.

Tennessee and Auburn are set to tip off around 3:00 PM ET on Thursday.
