Tennessee Vols forward Nate Ament goes viral for his reaction to win against the Georgia Bulldogs
The Tennessee Vols won a thriller on Wednesday night against the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Tennessee Vols won an overtime thriller on the road Wednesday night against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Tennessee held on for an 86–85 win after Georgia guard Marcus Millender passed up a game-tying three-point attempt in overtime and instead drove to the basket for a layup that cut the Vols’ lead to one with just 0.6 seconds to play.
The Vols inbounded the ball after the made layup, and time ran out, securing the win for Tennessee.
Ja’Kobi Gillespie led Tennessee in scoring with 21 points. True freshman forward Nate Ament had another solid game, scoring 19 points to go with six rebounds and three assists.
Nate Ament was fired up after beating Georgia
Ament, who is starting to come into his own as a college basketball player, was fired up as he left the court after the win.
The former five-star recruit even hit fans with a Kirk Cousins-inspired “You like that!” as he made his way to the locker room.
Ament, who has had some up-and-down moments this season as he adjusts to life in the SEC, is averaging 21 points per game over his last five games (all against SEC opponents).
“Nate, he is really starting to see the game,” said Vols head coach Rick Barnes after the win over Georgia. “I love watching him right now talk to the guys. Like during one of the timeouts, I said what I said, and he circled them up and he took control. He said, ‘Listen, here’s what we’re doing.’ And he repeated it exactly.
“We haven’t had that, but he’s starting to see the game. When we run some actions, he’s starting to just play out of it — he knows what he needs to do. But we need other guys to see what he’s seeing. Nate, again, he’s been terrific.”
Tennessee will be back in action on Saturday night in Knoxville for a matchup against Steven Pearl and the Auburn Tigers.
