Los Angeles Lakers guard Dalton Knecht described the recent failed trade that would have sent him to the Charlotte Hornets as feeling "like a movie".

The former Tennessee Vols standout had already joined the Hornets when the trade was rescinded due to concerns the Lakers had over center Mark Williams' health.

After joining the Hornets for a shootaround, Knecht was sent back to Los Angeles.

Knecht scored 10 points against in the Utah Jazz in his first game back with the Lakers after the failed trade. The Colorado native will play in his second game with the Lakers (since the failed trade) on Wednesday night (the Lakers' first game after the All-Star break). And the movie-like feeling will undoubtedly continue for Knecht.

That's because the Lakers are set to play the Hornets on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

And Williams, the player the Lakers initially traded Knecht for, is expected to return to the court in what will be his first action for the Hornets since the trade with Los Angeles was nixed.

If this were a movie, I'm not sure you could write a better script. Knecht immediately has to face the player he was traded for. And Williams has to play in the arena that was supposed to be his new home.

I'm sure it'll be a bit awkward for both players when they walk on the court on Wednesday night and see each other. But that will quickly fade as the game gets underway.

Still, it's an appropriate way for this strange chapter of Knecht's rookie season to conclude.
