2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is one of the Tennessee Vols’ top recruiting targets.

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (by way of Canada), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 13 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Tennessee receives important update in the recruiting battle for David Gabriel Georges

Gabriel Georges revealed his top eight schools to On3 on Monday, and Tennessee, as expected, was included.

The five-star running back also included Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Texas in his top eight.

“The environment and the coaches really make me like Tennessee,” said Gabriel Georges to On3 of his interest in the Vols. “It’s a great school with great people. My mom, dad, aunt, and uncle saw it and they liked it a lot too. The coaches are the main thing for me — they’ve done a great job with me and my family.”

Ohio State is probably Tennessee’s top competition for David Gabriel Georges

Tennessee has long been viewed as one of the favorites for Gabriel Georges. Georgia and Ohio State, however, are also major factors for the coveted recruit.

It could be Ohio State, though, that is the Vols’ top competition for the dynamic running back.

According to 247Sports’ Tom Loy, the Bulldogs are currently the “team to beat” for 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell.

If Ohio State misses on Spell, Gabriel Georges will likely become the Buckeyes’ top 2027 running back target.

Tennessee has done a terrific job so far of recruiting Gabriel Georges, but beating Ohio State for an elite recruit is never easy. This is a recruiting battle that will intensify over the next couple of months.
