The NFL Draft is just two days away, and as such analysts are putting out their final mock drafts. ESPN Jordan Reid did that on Monday with a seven-round mock draft, and he had two former Vols landing in pretty good spots.
Reid pegged Jaylen Wright to end up with the Green Bay Packers at pick number 91 in the third round. He predicted the Buffalo Bills to select QB Joe Milton in the seventh round with the 248th overall picks.
There's been speculation as far as whether Wright would end up as a second or third rounder, but it's certainly possible he ends up in the eighties or nineties in round 3. Even though he's one of the best prospects at his position, the running back position has been devalued significantly in the draft over the years.
There are far worse places Wright could land than Green Bay. The Packers have a potential star quarterback in the making in Jordan Love, who carried the Packers within a hair of making the NFC Championship game last year. He'd form a solid RB trio with Josh Jacobs and AJ Dillon.
Meanwhile, Milton isn't a crazy option with the Bills because…. well, they proved they like big and big-armed quarterbacks when they took Josh Allen. Not saying Milton is anywhere in that same universe as Buffalo's superstar (far from it), but he at least checks those boxes. Buffalo doesn't have any QBs on the roster other than Allen and Mitch Trubisky, so adding a player with strong physical tools at a low-risk draft spot is feasible.
TE McCallan Castles and CB Kamal Hadden didn't make it into Reid's mock. Either could end up hearing his name called, but it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see them go undrafted and sign with a team as a free agent shortly after the draft.
We'll find out soon enough when the draft gets underway from Detroit on Thursday night.
