The Minnesota Vikings will pick continue as things were before the bye week: with Josh Dobbs at the team's starting quarterback.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell met with the media on Wednesday and announced that the former Tennessee Vols standout will remain the team's starting quarterback for Sunday's matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Dobbs started off the season as the Arizona Cardinals' starter after coming over from the Cleveland Browns in a trade in August. He filled in while Kyler Murray worked to return from an ACL injury he suffered in December 2022.
He came over to the Vikings at the trade deadline, leading Minnesota to a 31-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons that captivated the NFL community. Through 4 games, he's led the Vikings to a 2-2 record. However, a four-interception performance in the Vikings' 12-10 Monday Night Football loss to the Chicago Bears before the bye week raised questions as to who would lead the offense when preparations began for the Raiders.
Dobbs' leash is likely a short one, given the fact there was even a need by Kevin O'Connell to determine a starter out of the bye week. However, he'll have one of the best wide receivers in the NFL back in Justin Jefferson, who was activated off of injured reserve on November 2.
If Dobbs can cut down on the mistakes and continue to be the dual threat that he's shown to be for the first three games in Minnesota, O'Connell's decision will likely prove to be the right one.
