Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel is out on the road recruiting this week and he checked in on an elite five-star offensive lineman on Tuesday.

Heupel made his way to Charlotte to visit 2025 five-star offensive lineman David Sanders, a standout player at Providence Day School.

Sanders, 6-foot-6/270 lbs from Charlotte, NC, is rated as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina. He's also rated as the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

The coveted offensive lineman told 247Sports earlier this month that Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee are a couple of the programs sticking out in his recruitment.

“I would say the opportunity to play early," said Sanders to 247Sports about his interest in the Vols. "If you go to a school like Georgia or Alabama, some guys are known to sit a couple years. At Tennessee you have the opportunity to come in and make a difference as a freshman. I love the coaching there from Coach Heupel on down. Coach (Glen) Elarbee is a great guy.”

Sanders, who took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in November for the Vols' game against Georgia, is expected to take several more visits before announcing his commitment.
