Tennessee's big win, however, wasn't the biggest story of the day in Knoxville.
The Vols obviously needed to handle business against UTEP on Saturday. But considering the talent gap between the two programs, it wasn't a surprise that Tennessee won the game in blowout fashion.
It was the games taking place at the same time as Tennessee's game against UTEP that were the real reason for excitement on Rocky Top.
Because of the Vols' loss to the Georgia Bulldogs last week, Tennessee needed some help this weekend to get back on the right side of the playoff bubble.
Specifically, Tennessee fans woke up on Saturday rooting for Ohio State to blow out Indiana and for Florida to beat Ole Miss.
And both of those games went exactly how Tennessee needed them to. The Buckeyes beat Indiana by 23 points and the Gators upset the Rebels in Gainesville.
When Vols fans in Neyland Stadium found out that Florida had held on to beat Ole Miss, they started collectively doing the Gator Chomp.
We've seen Vols fans do the Gator Chomp in Neyland before, but it's always been done to taunt Florida fans.
This might be the first time that we've seen Tennessee fans do the Gator Chomp to actually celebrate a Florida win.
The 12-team College Football Playoff has plenty of flaws, but it's pretty cool that it created a unique moment where Tennessee fans celebrated a win by one of their main rivals in late November.
