Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney noted this week that Tennessee, along with Alabama, Florida, State, and UCF are the "highest" for 2025 four-star linebacker Darrell Johnson.
Gorney noted, however, that if Georgia offers Johnson, it could change everything in this recruiting battle.
"Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee and UCF are highest now but the Eastman (Ga.) Dodge County standout is visiting Georgia soon and if/when the Bulldogs offer, everything could change," wrote Gorney.
Johnson, 6-foot-1/200 lbs from Eastman, GA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 linebacker in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia. He's also rated as the No. 33 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
The talented linebacker took an unofficial visit to Tennessee last summer.
Beating the Bulldogs for elite talent in the state of Georgia is always tough. But the Vols showed by landing five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews out of the Peach State in the 2024 recruiting cycle that they can go head-to-head with the Bulldogs in Georgia and come out on top.
