Missouri Tigers wide receiver Theo Wease Jr wasn't talking trash to the Tennessee Vols on Tuesday with his comments to the media, but UT's defensive backs should still take his words as a challenge.

Wease told reporters ahead of Missouri's game against Tennessee that he considers "50/50 balls" to be "80/20 balls". And he also considers himself to be "always" open.

"Y'all call them 50/50 balls, I call them 80/20," said Wease. "So yeah, I got a lot of confidence in myself."

There's obviously nothing wrong with Wease's comments. The Texas native is having a terrific year for Missouri after transferring from Oklahoma during the offseason. Wease has 41 receptions for for 530 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.

But Tennessee should take his comments as a challenge. After all, it became quite clear last week against UConn that the Vols play better when they have an edge. It can be tough to gain that edge and keep it for three and a half hours on a Saturday afternoon. So when the opposition gives something that can be used as motivation — no matter how small or silly it might seem — it would be foolish to not use it.

Tennessee can still win 11 games this season, which would be an incredible accomplishment after losing two SEC games before the end of October. But there's no room for error with just three regular season games left. Getting a win against Missouri on the road won't be easy — the Tigers have improved significantly under Eli Drinkwitz this season — which is why they need to make sure they head to Columbia with the same edge they had the last couple of weeks against UConn and Kentucky.
