The Tennessee Vols are a "team to watch" for one of the top players in the NCAA transfer portal.

On3's Pete Nakos reported on Tuesday that Tennessee and Texas are two teams to watch for South Carolina wide receiver Juice Wells, who entered the portal earlier this week.

Wells dealt with injuries in 2023, which kept him sidelined for most of the season, but he had a big year in 2022, including a huge game against the Vols.

The Virginia native caught 68 passes for 928 yards and six touchdowns in 2022 after transferring to South Carolina from James Madison (where he caught 83 passes for 1,250 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2021).

In South Carolina's upset win against Tennessee in 2022, Wells caught 11 passes for 177 yards. He also rushed for a touchdown against the Vols.

Wells is expected to visit Tennessee this weekend. The Vols could stand to add a wide receiver out of the portal with Ramel Keyton moving on (out of eligibility) and the uncertain status of Bru McCoy (could return, but might choose to go to the NFL).

Tennessee's top wide receivers entering the 2024 season will be Squirrel White, Dont'e Thornton, Kaleb Webb, and Chas Nimrod. The Vols could use some depth and another "go-to" wide receiver. Wells would certainly fit that description.
