The Tennessee Vols earned a massive win on the recruiting trail on Monday morning.

2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre announced his commitment to Tennessee on Monday morning during a ceremony at Brentwood Academy.

"I love this state, the fan base, and the coaches," said MacIntyre during his ceremony. "And I'll be staying home at the University of Tennessee. Go Vols."

MacIntyre, 6-foot-5/182 lbs from Brentwood, TN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee.

Over the last couple of months, MacIntyre narrowed his choices to Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee. The Tigers recently received a commitment from five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, which turned the battle for MacIntyre into a two-team race between Alabama and Tennessee.

Prior to Nick Saban's retirement as Alabama's head coach, the feeling was that Tennessee was the leader in the clubhouse for MacIntyre's commitment. Saban's retirement essentially sealed the deal for the Vols (though, again, MacIntyre was trending toward Tennessee anyway).

Scouting report via 247Sports: High-upside quarterback prospect with a franchise-worthy frame, college-level arm and fluid pocket movements. On the skinnier side, but is over 6-foot-5 and is likely going to fill out some more once he’s done with basketball. Possesses a cleaner stroke and can drive the football 50-plus yards. Shows touch on deep shots and will use trajectory to his advantage. Shouldn’t be viewed as a true dual-threat talent, but is elusive in the face of pressure and will slip/spin away from trouble.

MacIntyre, who is also a standout basketball player in high school, is the nephew of Mike MacIntyre, who is currently the head coach at FIU (he was previously the head coach at Colorado from 2013 to 2018).

Vols head coach Josh Heupel has quickly proven to be an elite quarterback recruiter. With MacIntyre's commitment, it means Heupel has landed a top 10 ranked quarterback in three straight recruiting classes (Nico Iamaleava in 2023 and Jake Merklinger in 2024).
