After a disappointing end to the regular season and a poor showing in the SEC Tournament, the Tennessee Vols looked locked in on Thursday night in an 83-49 win against Saint Peters in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Vols were led by Dalton Knecht, who scored 23 points in 29 minutes of action.

Jonas Aidoo chipped in 15 points and Zakai Zeigler added 11 points.

After the game, Saint Peters head coach Bashir Mason met with reporters and he had plenty of great things to say about the Vols.

Specifically, Mason appreciated the respect that Tennessee showed Saint Peters. The Vols played hard in a game they dominated from start to finish. They didn't take Saint Peters lightly, even though the outcome of the game was never in question.

"Man, those guys are good," said Mason. "Ton of respect for Tennessee, how hard they played, how detailed they were, taking away our strengths, how physical they were. Gang rebounded the ball. Coach (Rick) Barnes does a tremendous job. The amount of respect they showed for us in terms of how hard they played and the detail that they broke us down. Just a ton of respect for that program. I can't say enough about them."

Tennessee looked out of sorts in their shocking 73-56 loss to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament last week.

On Thursday night in Charlotte, however, the Vols looked locked in and focused. They looked like a team on a mission.

Maybe that loss in the SEC Tournament actually was a "good loss".
