Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning might need one of those cheesy "divided house" flags you often see flying in neighborhoods.

That's because Manning's beloved Vols altered their 2023 schedule this week. Instead of opening the 2023 season against BYU, Tennessee is now set to open the season against the Virginia Cavaliers in Nashville.

VolQuest's Brent Hubbs first reported the schedule change on Monday.

According to Hubbs, BYU is moving to the Big 12 and was already scheduled to play Arkansas in 2023. Tennessee, however, is still on the hook for buying their way out of the matchup. As a result, part of the ticket sales from the game against Virginia will go to BYU.

Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning will have a split house for UT's 2023 season-opener

The Vols' 2023 season-opener against Virginia could cause some tension in the Manning household.

That's because Manning's wife, Ashley, graduated from Virginia. Manning famously used to drive from Knoxville to Charlottesville to visit his then-girlfriend during his playing days at Tennessee.

Nearly 10 years ago, Manning actually served as the valediction speaker at Virginia.

If Peyton and Ashley make it to Nashville for this matchup, they may want to look into separate suites. We already know that Peyton is one of hte most competitive people on the planet, so this matchup could certainly get intense. Fortunately for Peyton, the Vols should be favored.

As an aside, this game will provide an interesting coaching matchup as well. It will pit Tennessee's Josh Heupel against Virginia's Tony Elliott.

Elliott, Clemson's former offensive coordinator, was considered a front-runner to replace Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee in early 2021 before the job eventually went to Heupel
