Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava is in the concussion protocol according to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Thamel noted that Iamaleava dressed and practiced on Tuesday, but the redshirt freshman quarterback's status for Tennessee's game against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday is "undetermined".

Iamaleava didn't return to Tennessee's win against Mississippi State this past weekend after being ruled out at halftime. The ESPN broadcast of the game said that Iamaleava was dealing with an "upper body injury".

ESPN's Chris Low reported on Monday that Iamaleava "underwent an evaluation by doctors for what sources told ESPN were concussion-like symptoms".

"He was with us today, had a really good day," said Heupel when asked about Iamaleava during his weekly press conference on Monday. "Feel like he’ll be in great shape for Saturday. But you guys can monitor whatever the report is that comes out on Wednesday and track it through the week. But certainly feel like he’ll be in a good spot.”

Tennessee and Georgia are set to kick off at 7:30 PM ET in Athens on Saturday night.

If Iamaleava is unable to play, redshirt senior Gaston Moore would likely start at quarterback for the Vols.
