There's never a dull moment when it comes to the Tennessee Vols.
That's what we always say, right?
For the first few weeks of the year, that statement rang true. There was plenty of news surrounding the Vols in January and early February. And it was all mostly positive. Some coaching staff upgrades, a solid National Signing Day and the news that Cade Mays was coming home from Athens to Knoxville.
But over the last couple of weeks, it's been relatively quiet on Rocky Top.
And quiet is always good.
But the silence was interrupted this weekend thanks to an incident involving a key Vols defender.
Defensive lineman Darrel Middleton was arrested early Saturday morning for public intoxication and domestic assault.
According to VolQuest, Middleton got into an altercation with his girlfriend over one of her guy friends. Middleton allegedly pushed his girlfriend to the ground twice (while also apologizing to her).
Middleton played in 13 games for the Vols last season. He's expected to be a key part of Tennessee's defensive line rotation in 2020.
Tennessee released a statement on Saturday, saying "“We are aware of the incident and are gathering information".
