The Tennessee Vols received some not-so-great NCAA transfer portal news on Thursday.

According to multiple reports, Virginia Cavaliers guard Isaac McNeely committed to the Louisville Cardinals on Thursday afternoon.

Tennessee was in the mix to land McNeely out of the transfer portal. In fact, On3's Joe Tipton wrote earlier this week that he "liked the Vols' chances" to land McNeely, though he also was quick to note that he wasn't counting out Louisville.

McNeely, 6-foot-4, was a coveted player in the portal after averaging 14.4 points per game last season while connecting on 42 percent of his three-point attempts.

The Vols are still in the mix for several other talented transfer portal targets, including Maryland Terrapins guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie.
