The Tennessee Vols are in great shape right now when it comes to quarterbacks.

Redshirt senior Hendon Hooker will be the Vols' starter in 2022. True freshman Tayven Jackson and redshirt senior Joe Milton will serve as quality backups to Hooker this upcoming season.

Tennessee also has a commitment from five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava, the No. 6 overall rated player in the 2023 recruiting class.

Anyone who closely follows college football, however, knows that programs never stop recruiting quarterbacks. You better be signing one every year if you're a college football head coach — especially with the NCAA transfer portal staying open year-round.

And that's exactly what Josh Heupel and the Vols are doing.

Tennessee is one of several programs showing interest in 2024 four-star quarterback Kamari McClellan.

McClellan, 6-foot-1/175 lbs from Pinson, AL, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 17 quarterback in the country and the No. 11 player in the state of Alabama.

According to 247Sports, McClellan played freshman ball at Clay-Chalkville as an eighth-grader.

Rivals.com reported this week that Mississippi State, Louisville, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh have all shown interest in the talented quarterback this spring.

McClellan's recruitment is really just heating up. He's trying to narrow down his choices this summer after taking some visits. Tennessee is one of the programs he's planning to visit in early June, along with Georgia, Ole Miss, and LSU.

It's obviously still very early in McClellan's recruitment, but I don't think there's any doubt that Tennessee will be a serious contender in this battle. When the Vols secured a commitment from Iamaleava earlier this spring, it solidified Tennessee as a legitimate contender for virtually every quarterback on their recruiting board.

We'll continue to follow McClellan as his recruitment progresses. For now, he's a player that Vol fans should keep an eye on.
