Unfortunately for the Tennessee Vols, it appears they're no longer in the mix for an elite five-star recruit that's rated as the No. 18 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class (247Sports composite).
Five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, 6-foot-1/185 lbs from Jacksonville, FL, told On3 this week that Texas, LSU, and Miami are his current top three schools.
Late last month, Rivals.com national recruiting analyst John Garcia Jr predicted that Ffrench, who was once committed to Alabama, will commit to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes, however, appear to be in the same boat as the Vols when it comes to the battle for Ffrench.
Tennessee is still currently scheduled to receive an official visit from Ffrench on June 14. There have already been plenty of twists and turns in Ffrench's recruitment, so it wouldn't be wise to completely write the Volunteers off in this recruiting battle until after the coveted wide receiver's official visit. A great official visit can change everything.
For now, at least, the Vols are on the outside looking in. But that doesn't mean they can't quickly get back in this recruiting battle.
