2021 four-star running back Cody Brown is one of the top recruits in the nation and the Tennessee Vols are the favorites to land him.
Rivals recruiting analyst Chad Simmons recently "ranked the contenders" for Brown and he has the Vols at the top of the list.
Auburn, Florida and Georgia are also in the mix to land to Brown.
According to Simmons, Tennessee started trending up in Brown's recruitment after the dynamic running back's most recent visit to Knoxville.
"He (Brown) not only liked what he saw at Tennessee, but the connection he has made with new running backs coach, former Vols running back Jay Graham, has really pushed Tennessee up Browns list", said Simmons.
Brown, 6-foot/225 lbs from Lilburn, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 9 running back in the nation.
The Georgia native told Rivals last month that he "really clicked with Coach Graham".
Brown also told Rivals that he wants to get into sports broadcasting eventually. That could make Tennessee an intriguing choice, given the success of former Vol Charles Davis (who recently made the switch from Fox Sports to CBS Sports) and Jason Witten (who worked in the Monday Night Football booth for a season before returning to the NFL).
As for Brown the player?
247Sports national writer Charles Power describes Brown as a player who "excels as a downhill runner with the ability to run through arm tackles at the second level". Power also noted that Brown "flaunts a strong stiff arm and runs with good contact balance".
Brown was planning to commit over the summer, but those plans have been pushed back due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
