The Tennessee Vols are reportedly confident they can steal coveted offensive lineman from the South Carolina Gamecocks
The Tennessee Vols are hard at work on their 2027 recruiting class.
The Tennessee Vols have had good recruiting luck in the state of South Carolina in recent years — wide receivers Jalin Hyatt and Braylon Staley, for example.
So it’s no surprise that Tennessee is feeling “confident” that they can once again swipe an elite recruit from the South Carolina Gamecocks’ backyard.
Tennessee likes where they stand for 2027 4-star recruit from South Carolina
247Sports’ Tom Loy reported this week that Tennessee likes where they stand for 2027 four-star offensive lineman Nate Carson.
Carson, 6-4/270 pounds from Columbia, SC, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 15 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of South Carolina. He’s also rated as the No. 161 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
“Tennessee believes that when Columbia (SC) Irmo Top247 offensive lineman Nate Carson eventually makes a commitment, the 6-4, 270-pounder will end up in Knoxville with the Volunteers,” noted Loy. “There is plenty of competition for Carson, but the Vols are confident they are moving the needle and setting the tone in that recruitment.”
Clemson and South Carolina are also in the mix for Carson.
According to Loy, Carson will take an official visit to Tennessee on June 5 (Texas Longhorns five-star wide receiver commit Easton Royal will also be in Knoxville that weekend).
South Carolina is currently scheduled to receiver Carson’s final official visit, which could make closing tricky for Tennessee.
For now, though, the Vols seem confident they’ll win this battle.
