The Tennessee Vols are reportedly losing a key defensive contributor to the NCAA transfer portal.

According to CBS Sports college football insiders Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer, Vols junior EDGE Caleb Herring is entering the transfer portal.

Caleb Herring signed with Tennessee during the 2023 recruiting cycle

Herring, 6-foot-5, 245 pounds from Murfreesboro, TN, signed with the Volunteers during the 2023 recruiting cycle. He was rated by 247Sports as a four-star recruit and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee.

During his three seasons at Tennessee, Herring totaled 25 tackles and five sacks while playing in 36 games.

The Vols are also losing EDGE Joshua Josephs to the 2026 NFL Draft.

Tennessee was named on Friday as a school to watch for Penn State transfer EDGE Chaz Coleman, one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal.
