The Tennessee Vols are reportedly losing a wide receiver to the NCAA transfer portal.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Vols redshirt junior wide receiver Tommy Winton III is planning to enter the portal when it opens on Jan. 2.
Tommy Winton spent two seasons with the Tennessee Vols
Winton is a former three-star recruit who signed with East Tennessee State out of high school.
The Knoxville native spent the first two seasons of his career at ETSU before transferring to Tennessee ahead of the 2024 season.
Winton played in 12 games for the Vols in 2024, with most of his action coming on special teams. He caught three passes for 26 yards in Tennessee’s win against ETSU in 2025 (those were Winton’s only receptions for the Vols).
In 2023, Winton caught 23 passes for 349 yards during his final season at ETSU.
Winston also had offers from Duke, Mississippi State, and Kentucky coming out of high school.
