The Tennessee Vols are reportedly showing interest in a transfer defensive lineman.

According to On3's Pete Nakos, Tennessee is one of several programs in the mix for North Carolina Tar heels transfer defensive tackle Joel Starlings.

Nakos reported on Friday that Starlings is slated to visit Tennessee, Auburn, and Mississippi State.

Starlings, 6-foot-4/320 lbs from Richmond, VA, is a former four-star recruit who signed with North Carolina during the 2023 recruiting cycle. He was rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 42 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of Virginia.

The Virginia native saw limited action during his first two seasons in Chapel Hill, playing in just three games and recording only one tackle.

Starlings was offered by Tennessee as a high school recruit in 2021, shortly after Josh Heupel was hired to replace Jeremy Pruitt as the program's head coach.

The Volunteers are in good shape along the defensive line, but they could stand to solidify their depth. Tennessee lost of a couple of key defensive linemen this offseason in Omari Thomas and Omarr Norman-Lott (both players are NFL bound).
