Multiple outlets reported on Thursday that Georgia redshirt sophomore linebacker Robert Beal has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Beal was a four-star recruit in the 2017 class. He arrived late to Georgia, due to some qualifying issues, which is one of the main reasons he redshirted in 2017.

The Georgia native has played in 11 games over the last two years for the Bulldogs, compiling 23 total tackles, including one sack.

Those numbers obviously don't stand out. But while Beal hasn't lit up the stat sheet, it's clear he has talent. He was a highly touted recruit and he was good enough to see the field for a program competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff. There's no doubt he could help Tennessee, who needs all the depth they can get at linebacker.

Beal has several connections to the Vols, too.

Inside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer recruited Beal to Georgia, while Jeremy Pruitt recruited the former four-star recruit to Alabama.

And there's also a Chris Weinke connection. Beal attended IMG Academy in Florida, where Weinke previously served as the program's head coach.

Perhaps a fresh start for Beal, who was arrested for possession of marijuana last spring, could help kickstart the talented linebacker's college career.
