Tennessee Vols sophomore running back Khalifa Keith announced on Wednesday that he's entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Keith is a former three-star recruit from Birmingham, AL. He signed with the Vols during the 2023 recruiting cycle.
"I’m forever grateful and beyond blessed for the opportunity you’ve given me to call myself a Vol," wrote Keith in a post on Twitter/X.com. "After much consideration, I would like to announce I will be entering the transfer portal on Dec 9 with 3 years of eligibility left. This has been a difficult decision, but I feel it’s the right one in order for me to continue chasing my athletic and academic goals. I’m blessed to have met and built lifelong relationships with my brothers and coaches that will last a lifetime. I’m excited to see where my journey goes from here. Thanks to everyone who has been part of the journey this far."
Keith carried the ball 21 times for 100 yards and a touchdown this season after rushing for 24 yards as a true freshman in 2023.
Despite an injury to running back Cam Seldon, Keith was never able to fully break into the running back rotation this season with starter Dylan Sampson and true freshman Peyton Lewis dominating the carries.
Keith has three years of eligibility remaining after playing in just four games in 2024.
