The Tennessee Vols are one of several programs targeting a 2024 five-star quarterback from North Carolina.

Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney pointed out this week that Tennessee is one of the programs that's coming "really big" after Jadyn Davis.

From Rivals.com:

Michigan is considered the front-runner for the 2024 five-star quarterback but he’s closely watching the Jim Harbaugh-to-NFL rumors especially now that the Wolverines coach will reportedly meet with the Denver Broncos this week. The word is if Harbaugh leaves Ann Arbor it would be a stretch to believe Davis would end up there.

Clemson and Tennessee are also coming “really big” after the Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day standout with North Carolina and Penn State in the picture, too.

Davis, 6-foot-1/190 lbs from Charlotte, NC, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina. He's also ranked as the No. 15 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.

Here's the scouting report on Davis from 247Sports:

Ball placement a strength early on in his career as he’s accurate more times than not. Uses trajectory to his advantage. Clean footwork. Likes to establish a secure base. Solid pocket presence for his age, but athletic and creative enough to keep plays alive. Can move the chains with his legs. Doesn’t put himself in many risky situations. Peers consider him a leader in the huddle. Will need to develop some arm strength over the next few years, but already capable of making some high-level throws. Viewed by trusted quarterback trainers as a kid that’s well ahead of the curve. Should develop into one of the top passers in the 2024 cycle with the right coaching and mindset.

It sounds like the Jim Harbaugh situation at Michigan is going to determine what happens in Davis' recruitment. Harbaugh is once again flirting with the NFL. And if he gets an offer from an NFL team, it feels like he'll be leaving Michigan behind.

There's also the fact that Harbaugh is facing a level I NCAA recruiting violation. That could certainly impact his future at Michigan and whether or not he leaves for the NFL. And depending on the penalties from the NCAA, it could impact recruiting.

Tennessee is a quarterback's paradise — big numbers and national attention are almost guaranteed. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Vols make a serious run at Davis.
