The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for one of the most coveted players in the 2027 recruiting class.

2027 five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson included the Vols among his top 12 schools this week, along with Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

Dobson, 6-foot-1/175 lbs from Fort Mill, SC, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 cornerback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina. He’s also rated as the No. 7 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

5-star cornerback Joshua Dobson visited the Tennessee Vols earlier this fall

Dobson got a taste of the game day atmosphere on Rocky Top last month when he took an unofficial visit to Tennessee for the Volunteers’ win against the UAB Blazers.

The five-star defensive back also visited Tennessee last season for the Vols’ win against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Dobson told GoVols247 that the Alabama game at Neyland last season was “probably the biggest” and “loudest” game he’s been to.

There’s still a long way to go in this battle, but Dobson is certainly a player that Tennessee could use. Elite cornerbacks can be game changers in the SEC.
