Tennessee Vols transfer addition has been named as one of the top players in college football
The Tennessee Vols added one of the best players in college football to the roster this offseason.
One of the Tennessee Vols’ newest transfer additions has been named as one of the top 100 players in college football.
On3 published its list of the top 100 players in college football on Thursday, and Vols EDGE Chaz Coleman came in at No. 52 in On3’s rankings.
Coleman, a former four-star recruit, transferred from Penn State to Tennessee earlier this month.
Wide receiver Braylon Staley and cornerback Ty Redmond are the other Vols that were included in On3’s top 100 rankings.
Staley came in at No. 98, and Redmond at No. 100.
Vols insider thinks Chaz Coleman has a chance to be ‘dynamite’ for Tennessee in 2026
Coleman didn’t put up crazy numbers as a true freshman in 2025, totaling just eight tackles and a sack.
Expectations, however, are high for Coleman thanks to his obviously elite talent. There’s also his existing relationship with new Vols defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. Coleman played under Knowles at Penn State in 2025.
VolQuest’s Austin Price joined 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will last week and sounded very optimistic about what Coleman can potentially provide for the Volunteers in 2026.
“[He’s] long and athletic,” said Price of what Tennessee likes about Coleman. “Obviously, the staff knew exactly what they were getting with Chaz Coleman. It’s why they pushed so hard.”
“They believe that he has the chance to go boom,” continued Price. “And I think that’s why for Coleman, these next four months [are] really big from the standpoint of Tennessee’s got to get their strength coach hired, and that guy’s got to hit the ground running. Chaz Coleman, if he puts on the proper weight, is going to be a terror come September. So, again, a good-looking kid — long, lean, and athletic. He just needs to have a really good offseason, and I think he has a chance to really be dynamite for Tennessee this fall.”
Coleman will instantly step into a featured role for the Vols in 2026. He’ll have every opportunity to prove that he’s one of the best players in college football.
