Tennessee Vols transfer offensive lineman has reportedly committed to an SEC rival
The Tennessee Vols will see a familiar face in conference play in 2026.
A Tennessee Vols transfer offensive lineman has reportedly committed to an SEC rival.
On3 reported on Tuesday that Vols transfer offensive lineman Max Anderson has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.
Anderson, a former four-star recruit from Frisco, TX, played in two games as a true freshman for the Vols in 2024. He played in all 13 games in 2025, with most of his action coming on special teams.
Max Anderson’s departure isn’t ideal for Tennessee
Anderson likely wasn’t going to start at Tennessee in 2026, but he would’ve served as important depth for the Volunteers.
The Texas native was viewed as a potential backup option at the center position for the Vols entering the 2025 season (he took reps at center during practice as a true freshman), but he was never able to crack the rotation.
William Satterwhite, who served as Tennessee’s backup center in 2025, is also set to transfer.
Anderson would’ve had a chance to secure the backup center job had he stayed at Tennessee.
Instead, Anderson will face the Vols in Knoxville next fall, and Tennessee will hope to find a new backup center.
Anderson has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
