Tennessee Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy had some high praise for quarterback Nico Iamaleava on Wednesday during an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show.
McCoy complimented Iamaleava on his command of the field, while calling the redshirt freshman "special".
"He takes command of the field really well,” said McCoy. “He’s a great leader. I mean, he’s an awesome guy off the field. He’s just really easy to work with and learn from. It’s been just awesome to see him go out and do what all of us here at Tennessee have seen him do.”
“Now, he’s putting kind of the world on notice,” continued McCoy. “This kid’s special and I think there’s a lot of great things to come from him. As long as we just keep our nose to the grindstone, keep what’s important important, we’ve got a lot of success in front of us.”
McCoy, who suffered a season-ending injury in the final weekend of September last season, caught six pass for 89 yards in his return to action last weekend against Chattanooga. He also rushed one time for nine yards in the Vols' 69-3 win against the Mocs.
Iamaleava, McCoy, and their Volunteer teammates will look to keep it going on Saturday night in Charlotte in an early-season showdown against NC State.
